What Kidge can do.
Kidge brings 79 native tools to Autodesk Inventor – from reading iProperties to complete sheet metal and assembly workflows. Every tool works directly against the native Inventor API, no detours.

A toolset that thinks along with Inventor
Documents & project data · 13 tools
Detect the active document, its type, and all open documents; open, close and save documents.
- Read, write, and create iProperties
- Read, change, and add user parameters
Understanding the model · 3 tools
The AI's "eyes": a structured, machine-readable view of the active model.
- Calculate mass, volume, surface area
- Faces, edges & features with stable references
- Screenshots from 10 viewing angles
New: upload images & sketches directly into the chat (attachment button or Ctrl+V) – the foundation for a sketch-to-part workflow.
Sketches, features & material · 18 tools
From the first line to a finished, materialized feature tree.
- Sketches, lines, rectangles, circles
- Extrude & revolve
- Fillets, chamfers, holes
- Patterns (rectangular/circular), mirrors, shells
- Read the material library & assign material
Assemblies · 11 tools
Place components, connect them, and keep the structure in view.
- Place & remove components/sub-assemblies
- Mate, flush, insert, angle & tangent constraints
- Read the full bill of materials (BOM)
✓ Verified end-to-end with real placed components (July 16, 2026).
Drawings · 13 tools
Create new drawings and place and dimension views, without clicking manually through every sheet.
- Create a new drawing from scratch
- Base, projected, section & detail views
- Linear, radius & diameter dimensions
- Read and set title block text, export (PDF/DWG/DXF/STEP)
✓ Dimensioning tools verified end-to-end with correctly measured values (July 16, 2026). New (July 17, 2026): detail views and creating new drawings (create_drawing) – known limitation: saving a newly created drawing doesn't work reliably yet (unresolved internal error); placing views and dimensioning is unaffected and already works reliably.
Sheet metal · 4 tools
Sheet-metal workflows from the base face to the flat pattern.
- Base faces from sketches
- Flanges on edges
- Flat pattern, corner seams
✓ Tested end-to-end and confirmed working (July 16, 2026).
iLogic · 6 tools
Understand existing iLogic rules and adjust them precisely.
- List rules & read code
- Create, update, run, delete rules
Self-verification · 3 tools
The core of Kidge's agentic approach – no "should work now".
- A task plan with success criteria before multi-step tasks
- Every step needs concrete evidence
- "Done" is only accepted once everything is proven
Memory, code & search · 6 tools
For everything that goes beyond the core toolset.
- Free C# code access for edge cases without a dedicated tool
- Persistent memory across sessions
- Tool and guide search for edge cases
- Web search for up-to-date information
Vault integration · 2 tools
New: a generic bridge to Autodesk Vault, with no hard dependency on Vault's own API.
- List available Vault commands (check out, check in, get latest version, ...)
- Run a specific command found this way
Note: Vault is a multi-user system – actions affect the whole team. Without the Vault add-in installed, the tool list simply returns empty instead of an error.
Session management · chat feature
New (July 17, 2026): 13 local slash commands with autocomplete keep long chat sessions manageable.
- Automatic history compaction past a token threshold (
/verlauf locker|standard|kompakt) - Real token usage display for the running session (
/tokens) - Auto-continue budget for multi-step tasks, now unlimited by default (
/limit)
Compatible AI models
Kidge isn't tied to a single AI provider. Freely choose between cloud and local models in the settings dialog – compatibility is rated honestly, based on how well a model handles the agentic tool loop and image feedback. As of July 17, 2026, all 27 models across 14 providers are directly selectable – 13 of them were previously greyed out.
Note: the 9 most recently enabled providers (Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, Perplexity, LM Studio, Azure OpenAI, OpenRouter, Cerebras, Together.ai) are carefully researched but not yet verified against real accounts – feedback on these is welcome.
What's coming next
A look at what's currently being worked on. Not finished yet – but already in progress.
Connect Claude Code (BYO-AI)
Already have a Claude Code console running? Soon you'll be able to connect it directly as Kidge's AI backend – no separate API key needed. Another building block of the BYO-AI philosophy: bring the AI you already have.
Other CAD systems
Kidge is starting focused with Autodesk Inventor. Long-term, Kidge is planned as a CAD AI for SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Autodesk Fusion 360 and Solid Edge too, once the core scope for Inventor is mature. Autodesk Vault already has a first, generic connection – deeper, native integration follows later.
AI model verification
Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, Perplexity, Azure OpenAI, OpenRouter, Cerebras, Together.ai, and local LM Studio have been directly selectable since July 17, 2026 – verification against real accounts is still ongoing.
License server & team management
Central license management for companies with multiple workstations and Inventor installations.
Autodesk App Store
Official release of Kidge on the Autodesk App Store for even simpler installation.
Even more specialized tools
More tools for complex sheet metal, assembly, and drawing cases keep following the existing toolset.
